How to Squat for Beginners: Video

Hey Guys! This video is made to talk about all things squat related. Squats are one of the best lower body exercises because it strengthens all of the muscles in your legs, but they should be approached with caution because extreme injury could occur if done improperly. I am here to break down all of the steps that are involved with squatting, and make it as simple as possible to understand.

By the end of this video, you should all be experts on how to perform a squat with correct form. This video is targeted more towards beginners trying to get into the gym, but anyone can watch it if they want to learn the process of performing a squat correctly. Make sure to like, comment, share, and subscribe and let me know what other videos you would like to see next!

SQUATTING: STEP-BY-STEP //

// Remember to always warm up for ~5 minutes before performing the actual exercise //

– Place feet about shoulder width apart – you can go slightly wider than shoulder width if that is more comfortable

– Turn your feet about 30 degrees outward

– Push your butt back

– do NOT let your knees come past your toes

– Keep your knees pushed out when coming up from a squat

– do not let them buckle

– Keep your chest up and your core tight

– Do not forget to breathe in-between the exercise. If you are not lifting heavy weight, breathe during the exercise. (This is just for beginners, and if you are starting to squat heavier weight, take a deep breath and hold it throughout the movement.)

I know this seems like a lot of information to remember, but I promise it will all start to make sense once you begin practicing the exercise.

I think other people will find my video through the tags I included in the description. I created tags so that when people search up key-words, my video will pop up. As Wolf would say, my video is “algorithmically curated”, presenting itself to specific Youtube watchers. I also titled my video something simple that targets a certain audience; it targets people who are new to lifting and want to learn how to properly perform a squat. Using my video title and my tags, Youtube creates a “filter bubble” by “automatically sort[ing] content and making customized recommendations for each individual user”. When people are searching up videos about how to begin lifting or how to start squatting, my video might show up in their recommended videos because of this filter bubble”. My video is definitely worth watching because I included as much information as I could into a 4-minute video and I think it will be really helpful for anyone wanting to learn about how to squat, why squats are important, and how to not hurt yourself. I know that if I came across this video in the beginning of my fitness journey, I would have learned the exercise much quicker than it actually took me to learn. If people are new to the gym and are just starting their fitness journey, people will look at the title of my video and realize that this video could be useful for them.
